Maybe every other parent already knew this, but this is a shorter version of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, not a different book. If I had taken the time to really pay attention, I would have noticed that, but it was offered as part of a three pack with Chicka Chicka 123 and the full Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and I just clicked to buy all three. Spoiler alert: it is much better than the long version, especially for bedtime, so I kept it.

My son loves Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. I bought the paperback copy for him before he was born, but when he started picking out the books he wanted me to read him, he also started ripping the cover up. I figured a board book would work better, and hopefully discourage tearing up all of his books. So, I bought this. Without really paying attention to what I was buying. It's only half of the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom story, which is a little disappointing, but my son doesn't really care. I know the story by heart, anyway, so I can just finish if he doesn't lose interest. It's also not as indestructable as I had hoped. All of his other board books (including some second-hand books from friends/family) are doing well. This one was really easy for him to tear up (mostly the binding). Maybe it's because it's one of his favorites? I don't know. It's a great book, and I don't regret the purchase since my son loves it. I just wish I had paid closer attention to what I was buying.

I should have read the other reviews before purchasing. I was buying this for my 4 year old who loves Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, I saw it was a board book and thought great this one will hold up better than his last copy as we have gone through 2 already since he reads and takes it every where with him. However this is not the full book and only the 1st half of it. So I now have an upset child because it isn't the full book and only the beginning.

Love the book. But please dont order this and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom... It's the same story. Boom Boom is just more fleshed out.

This is a nice book and it is a fun read for ages 1 to 5 probably. However it does not have the whole alphabet at the end of the book on two pages together, which is what I was hoping for. So I was very disappointed about that and actually ended up ordering the regular chicka chicka boom boom because I saw online that it has the whole alphabet together. I am a teacher and I want to teach my almost two-year-old the alphabet but it's very hard if you don't have it the whole thing in front of you. So, I would recommend either buying the regular version of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom instead of this one, or both because this one is easier to get through for little kiddos. Overall, it is a nice book though, if you just want a quick and easy read with learning included.

Great kid's book. This js the board book and my only complaint is that it doesn't have the part about the momma and poppa coming and helping when everyone falls out of the tree. Maybe that is just part of the song though and not the book. This our first book.

Warning** this is NOT chicka chicka boom boom. It's basically the 1st 1/2 of the book only. I always read reviews before purchase and for some reason I didn't this time :(Cute for what it is but I'd rather pay the extra dollar or two and get the whole book.

This book was given to my daughter when she was 9 months old. She immediately loved it. She is now 13 months and she still loves it. We have now purchased over 5 of these to give as presents to others. This is the BEST Chicka Chicka book, I regret purchasing the 123, it's not as good and the children do not seem to like it as much.

This book is a must have for the start of a new year. Normally I try to get one from the library but I have to get one really early (November) so I can get my hands on one. I end up having the students watch someone read it online if I'm too late. This was a good deal and now I won't have to run and get one every year. I much rather read to them myself and have the book as a reference. There are wonderful online lessons that go along with this book and promots being helpful, kind and that everyone is unique.

I appreciate the solid definition of a New year's resolution and it was fine for the purpose of teaching my small children about resolutions but that's it. It was fine, adequate, okay. There was nothing outstanding. It is a good serviceable story

I bought this book to share with my five-year-old on New Year’s Eve. She loved the story and it helped her understand what a New Year’s resolution is. I purchased the hardcover version. Great quality.

This is a wonderful book to teach students about New Year's resolutions. I used this book for my special needs students. They understood the plot and the characters. I used this book as the center of my unit. My students understood what resolutions were and they made their own based on their behaviors in school and what they wanted to improve. They were able to graph their progress and see results.

I used this book with my first grade class at the beginning of January. It explains nicely what a 'resolution' is. I used it before we did some writing about our goals for the second half of the school year. I will definitely use it again next year!

The story is very cute and my TK students totally understood what a resolution was after reading this. I would recommend buying a hard copy and not downloading for kindle. The print was so tiny!!

While New Year's is usually celebrated in January, we began our SCHOOL year in our room with a "New Year's Celebration" ( including hats, noise makers, decorations and an end of the day toast with lemonade!) on the first day!) On our first days we read many books to help us plan our hopes, dreams and wishes for the year of learning together.This one helped spark students to write their new year goals, hopes, dreams. Perfect!

My kids loved this book and it was perfect for teaching goal setting and showing empathy towards others.

D. Graham Burnett's "Trial By Jury" is not a "true crime" novel. In fact, it is to "true crime" what Jane Austen is to Harlequin romances. I am not writing this to sound smarmy, but just to let the reader know that while this is a story of a trial and the tensions arising therefrom, the reader should not expect anything resembling Ann Rule or even Truman Capote. [This mis-expectation, I think, accounts for several of the negative reviews.]This is a autobiographical recount of D. Graham Burnett's jury duty on a murder trial. Burnett's rationle for recounting the trial is to give us a view of the machinations of the jury trial and, in so doing, reflect on such things as the difference between law and justice, and the ways in which we try to ascertain the truth of a matter when all we have are disjointed facts and clues.The trial is that of Monte Virginia Millcray, who is charged with stabbing Randolph Cuffee about 20 times. Millcray says the stabbings were in self-defense, after Cuffee (posing as a woman) tried to rape Millcray. The prosecutions account is that Millcray and Cuffee were in a relationship and Millcray snapped.About half of the book is about the courtroom drama and half is about the lengthy (20+ hour) deliberation process and it is clear that the author places much more emphasis on the latter half of the book. Witnesses are gone through rather quickly, summarized as might be done by a story teller quickly laying the obligatory groundwork for the "real" story. By contrast, Burnett's recounting of the jury deliberation is quite lengthy and detailed.To this reader's mind, Burnett really does a good job with describing the jury deliberations and for those of us who've done jury duty before, much of his retelling will seem familiar. Tempers flare, opinions clash and fluctuate. Evidence is combed over again and again, in hopes that each time will reveal something missed the time before.Burnett also reflects on the jury process. Some of his reflections - the mismatch between law and justice - are rather pedestrian and hackneyed. (I confess that I was sometimes annoyed that some of Burnett's more pedestrian reflections were sometimes treated as if he were the first to have thought of them.) Others - jury sequestration as an example of the virtually unlimited power of the state - were quite interesting. Either way, Burnett's retelling of the jury deliberation is as much recount as it is reflection. (If that would bore you, you might get bored with this book.)"Trial by Jury" is not for everyone. As noted, it is not a "true crime" novel, and is not a page-turner. I don't think that was D. Graham Burnett's goal in writing the book. Rather, it is a sometimes entertaining and other-times thought-provoking examination of one man's experience with, and reflections on, a jury trial as a way to try and mete out imperfect justice in an imperfect world.

The idea for this book was certainly a good one. Given how the whole jury system plays such a central role in our judicial system, it is rather surprising that there is so little material on what actually goes in inside the jury room. As Burnett rightly points out, it is a "largely inaccessible space in our society." Thus the book is certainly a step towards filling that void. That said, I found it somewhat unsatisfying for several reasons, some of them within the author's control and some of them not. In various other reviews here, the author has been described variously as "pretentious" (on several occasions), "pompous", "snobbish", "holier-than thou", "smug", and "self-congratulatory". Anyone see a theme here? I don't really disagree with any of these and I would add pedantic, condescending and superior. It really comes through on almost every page. And yet, I have to say that with the possible exception of Adelle, no one else in that jury room seemed like a candidate for MENSA. In fact, a number of them, such as Felipe and Rachel, seemed like true idiots. The overall lack of intelligence of so many jury members had several unfortunate consequences. First, with just a few exceptions, including some comments by Adelle and Dean, it made the deliberations (which take up half of the book) much less interesting than they otherwise might have been. Second, whatever sense of pedantry and superiority which is probably naturally latent in the author anyway were probably brought to the fore when he saw who he was dealing with. Also, again though no fault of the author's, I simply didn't find the case he had to work with all that riveting. A man was lured to or went voluntarily to the apartment of some sort of man/woman/transvestite/cross-dresser/drag queen and either did or did not kill the latter in self-defense when the latter made sexual advances. All in all, it was not a bad book by any means, but I don't think that it was the book it could have been either.

It is easy to pick on people that are less educated than you, and, if you are very well educated like this author, to do it in a way that seems less than mean spirited, however real people are difficult to understand and this is what the book unfortunately missed. The author approaches his subject "critically" rather than with curiosity. Because of his intelligance, his education, his experiance, etc., he obviously feels that he "knows" what he is talking about. And, about many things, some of which are in this flawed book, this is true. But, he could have learned many things and this is the problem with the book. While as a trial lawyer I found the book useful, I would hesitate to say that I also found it to be good.

Many of us can think the thoughts, but few of us can put into words the experience of sitting on a jury and interacting with our fellow man in order to attain a "just" verdict. D. Graham Burnett has taken this mandatory life experience and shed a new light on it and now shares it with the world. Having been associated with the legal process, as a court reporter, for 30 years, and having, for the most part, taken it for granted, it was very refreshing for me to see, through his eyes, its shortcomings and its strengths. He asks tough questions. What is the law? What is a just verdict? How powerful is the state? Do we need protection from it? And, he demonstrates just how the jury process can and does work, even with all of the personalities, the loss of patience, the bickering of strong-willed people, and how even the quiet and withdrawn have something to say: eventually. Well worth your time.

G&S shows are awesome. I love the local group I perform with, and this arrived quickly and is what I needed.Kind of wish it was available spiral bound, but for the price, great.

Mister Kong, thank you for using your special mind powers to create such a great book series. I just got back from a rather slow deployment and let me tell you. I read this series front to back at least 4 times. Plus I have been using your works as an example of LITRPG. I was using play to live, and while I to like the first few books I feel like some of the book is being lost in translation. But then I found your works and was very pleased indeed. You are pushing out books at a pronominal pace and each book have gotten better then the last. Thank you for all your hard work and I can't wait to read Raiders.

But not for the reason you might think.When he first started this series I thought his character was overpowered and to lucky by far.As his new books came out his writing improved, and the world he was building became more fleshed out.I hate this author for the simple fact that I have to wait for more.Why oh why can't I just drink his brain and have it all?I want more now!Great job and keep pumping out more of this story.May you have a loooong life so we can get to enjoy the journey you have taken us all on.

I think I can reliably say I have an addiction to litrpg. This series by far my favorite. It's the kind of drug I would gladly walk into a dark alley full of people with questionable morals for. If you're reading this review, you have either never heard of the series or you are just making sure Aleron isn't mailing it in and coasting on his success. Rest assured he is still in top form. If you haven't started the series yet I'd like to tell you about some less addicting sources of entertainment, namely heroin. Considering I read this book in two days the heroin will probably last a comparable amount of time and will be exponentially easier to get.I can't give blowskies to truckers behind the McDonald's for another hit of The Land... Or can I?

I almost NEVER write amazon reviews but I feel like I need to write a review for every book in this series. The story and characters are fantastic and I haven't enjoyed a book series this fully since Stephen King's The Dark Tower series. I'm very nervous for the Dark Tower movie but yet I digress.The fifth book of a six book (and growing!) series, Richter starts fully exploring the making of his village and fortunately has plenty of great characters to help him get started. Think "A Dark Room" on a speedball. Richter is leveling up and gaining more XP, the monsters are getting more powerful and his list of allies grows. What's not to love about this?? The leveling of the characters, the battles against monsters, some of them purely evil, and good (so far) is triumphing. Please do yourself a favor and stay the path, there's yet more to be excited about in this book.Gnomes rule!

This was another strong entry in a series that is as addictive as they come. This book really reaches a high level of complexity with regards to the RPG-like mechanisms that govern the world that the story takes place in. It is expansive and somewhat daunting. I've come to doubt that this series will end anytime soon. 5 books in and it still feels like we're barely scratching the surface of this world and the overarching narrative.The author finally decides to truncate descriptions of some of the minor quests rather than going into detail with everything that Richter does. It's much needed as the story is not moving quickly enough with regards to the larger quest lines. There are things that have been lingering for 3-4 novels without being addressed and I sincerely hope that the upcoming entries start to get back to the main story.As much though there is a ton of tangential plot threads; the book is riveting and a real page-turner. Richter has become a many-layered character and some of the most interesting parts of the book are his internal dialogue; where he questions his motivations and morality. Richter is a human being; not some perfect hero who never does anything wrong; and his flaws are what make him more interesting in a way. Early in the series I often found him to be a bit annoying but now I see growth in the character and inner-conflict. He's still not the most likable main character but he's not supposed to be.There were a couple of strange character developments (including one that is sort of thrown in unceremoniously with absolutely zero foreshadowing but is actually very significant if I read it correctly) that I scratched my head at. I'll keep reading to see if anything comes of them but they were bizarre and off-putting. Additionally, despite the series being 5 books old now, there has yet to be anything in the way of romance, courtship or even just a meaningful connection between a man and a woman beyond a mother-son type of relationship. This is clearly a blind spot for the author and it is an area that is sorely missing form the main character's journey. His most intimate relationship with a female is essentially with his pet.On a whole though, the book was great as was the development of the characters in it. I just want the author to start getting to the point. You can't drag out side-quests forever without people losing interest.

Another good book, though this one felt like more of a filler i guess. It goes pretty in depth about the future of the village and the technology system of building a village. This is also the second book that the title made no sense, the swarm ( which i assume is the eaters that everyone is afraid about) is talked bout for like 2 pages at the end of the book but are never seen. Also the main character is apparently bi-sexual though its kinda just mentioned in passing so if that bothers you i guess skip that page.

I had the opportunity to read the book "Learn to Code in Swift - The new language of iOS Apps" by Kevin J. McNeish, over year end holidays. I've been looking for a good book on Swift, as I spent last summer translating my own app from Objective-C to Swift. While I really didn't know what I was doing, I had done a literal translation as a means of trying to learn the syntax of the language. Since then, I have been trying to get a better understanding of some of the differences between Objective-C and Swift, so that I may be able to clean up my app a bit.I had met Kevin at MacWorld some years ago, and had picked up his first iBook on Obective-C. I found it to be a good beginner's book. With that as a background I was looking forward to reading this book.Let's begin with the structure of an individual chapter. Each chapter has a specific theme, and within that theme Kevin spends considerable time explaining the specifics and concepts behind that that theme. Unlike many books, he doesn't assume that you are an expert in computer theory or computer science. While he doesn't go too deep on the theory, he does explain enough of it to help solidify the concepts of the specific theme. Each theme is broken apart into specific concepts or, if appropriate, API calls. He provides simple to understand code examples so that the concepts stick with you. He also spends enough time explaining the Xcode environment, which is a great boon for someone just getting started learning iOS programming. I have yet to find a book that does this, so it was refreshing to learn a few tricks I had not yet discovered.Quick aside: Years ago when I first started programming professionally, I had to share a development environment with the production system on an IBM midrange computer called the System 38. The customer I was working forward got upset with me, as I used to treat it like a PC, i.e. Write some code, compile, look at the syntax errors, fix them, write some more code, rinse and repeat until the program was done. My boss came to me one day, after getting many complaints that I was impacting the customers business with all my compiles, and said - "Michael, you only get three compiles to get a program finished. One for syntax, one for debugging, and one for production use." I was floored... How would I ever do this, well the answer was, learn how the computer thinks. Desk check your code, and program flow - making sure to fully understand all the inputs, behaviors, and outputs. This advice changed the way I programmed. I feel that I need to understand, not only the big picture, but the details and how the operating system works.In Learn to Code in Swift, Kevin helped me get a much deeper understanding of the actual behavior and reasoning around many of the concepts I had tried to pick up by converting my code last summer.Continuing with the structure of the chapters, Kevin then provides a handy summary of all the points he just presented. I can imagine a companion book that just consists of those summaries. Perhaps this is how he structured his outline for the book. But I find myself going back to those pages to reinforce the lessons. He then provides an exercise to allow the reader to practice what they just learned. And finally, and I love this part, he provides a video online to walk you thru the steps making sure you got the exercise right. And as with most programming books, all the source code is available for downloading.Overall, I found this book to be an excellent starting point for people wanting to learn Swift within the context of iOS programming. Now that Apple has released Swift into Open Source, I am sure that the language will grow and mature quickly. Having a good understanding of the fundementals of the language is critical to take advantage of it overtime. Kevin's book certainly provides you with that foundation. Highly recommended.

As usual, Kevin McNeish has nailed it. I have yet to be disappointed in purchasing any of his books. MONEY WELL INVESTED IN YOURSELF. If you are having difficulties in grasping Swift, do not hesitate and purchase this book. You will not regret your purchase.thanks to my investment in Mr. McNeish books, I was able to build this advance iPhone/iPad App http://lumberjacksystem.comPrior to this App, I have had no iOS experience at all. In the very middle of the book the right-hand side pages are printed slightly crooked, and those pages are also not fully secured to the binding. Its 20-30 pages, but in a book like this every page is vitally important. The information is great, as are the online resources that accompany the book.

Well written and easy to follow. Good tutorial for those new to programming.

Update: This seems like a fantastic book so far.I'm just about at page 100, still plenty to go but have been making progress recently.The author does a great job explaining the mechanics of coding swift in xcode.He's also got videos at the end of each chapter which I've so far not needed but it's nice to know they are there in case I miss something in the text.I'm at the point where the author is doing such a good job that I'm curious why there aren't more reviews on the book here. It seems really really good.Probably also worth noting that the print version of the book has reasonable sized type that's easy to read.------------- original review below -----------------------So far so good!This is just over a 500 page book.I'm about 50 pages in, which is where the book talks about 'optionals' .I had muddled with Swift before, but didn't know what optionals were, and never really understood when I needed or didn't need to 'unwrap' them. Honestly, I didn't even know what they were called. I was really excited when I got to chapter 4 and realized it was explaining what all that stuff was about. So far it looks to be a great book!

This book helped me gain more insights into my thinking and has very helpful tips on how to change the way I think about things so I feel better about myself and be happier and more satisfied with my life. A good thing I noticed when reading this also is that I am already doing a couple of the things Damon suggests and they do work and it helped to know I am going in the right direction.

I spent quite a lot of time trying to figure out how to write my first ever review for any book in the most perfect way. It’s a mental struggle even to write a simple review without thinking too much:) Perfectionism is an addiction that I let myself succumb to. Of all things in life that can suck one’s happiness I think ‘perfectionism’ is the most stealthy one. There are so many things out there to blame for unhappiness and even when you blame yourself for it imagine how difficult it is to accept that you have fallen to your own self beliefs.This is a great book for someone who is struggling in life because of perfectionism. Even for others there are useful things to know. It doesn’t take a lot time to go through the book and this short amount of time would definitely be a time well spent for everyone.This book doesn’t cover a lot of theory or about psychological triggers for perfectionism. However there are references to relevant articles and studies. This is a very short book even so it took a very short time to connect with myself. I think this would be the case with you especially if you are a perfectionist. I could immediately connect to the personal experiences shared by Damon since that’s exactly how perfectionism affects me and also for the reason that my perfectionism doesn’t allow me to be challenged by others easily. I find it very important to learn lessons from someone who has walked the same path in which I am travelling now.I could easily acknowledge the “12 negative impacts of perfectionism” described in part one of this book. It was like someone describing my current experiences in life. Part two of the book helps to evaluate the severity of perfectionism in one’s life. I scored full marks on the pop quiz at the end of the chapter. Let me know if you beat me on that ;)The third and final part of the book is all about action where Damon lists 12 ideas to overcome perfectionism. Again these ideas are covered in very few pages and is to the point. You could clearly see that the focus is on getting someone to start executing them without spend too much time on reading a lot more.I have been following some of the ideas in the last few weeks and have seen a great impact already. Just reading the book has reduced my level of self-criticism. By following few of the ideas I have been able to avoid triggers that let my ‘perfectionist inner critic’ to take control of me. I also have been able to realize when I am under the influence of perfectionist thoughts and pull myself back on track. The same situation few months back would have carried me onto a runaway train. I am slowly working on following the other ideas too and would recommend everyone to give them a try. I know it’s a tough road ahead for us but I am sure Damon has more books in line to revitalize us down the road. Good luck everyone!Thanks Damon for this book. I have gotten a taste of the joy of imperfection and it is a soothing experience.

Very comprehensive content! The book is written straight to the point and practical exercises / solutions are included. I strongly recommend this book, whether you may need a guide for self improvement or just look for a reference for human studies.

In my opinion, this is one of the best books on perfectionism that I have read. Easy read with concrete examples and exercises that you can practice to work through to slowly rid yourself of a perfectionistic mindset. I believe that it is worth reading multiple times.

This book was extremely helpful to me. It helped me to see my perfectionism for what it is...a hinderance to accomplishing more, as well as a hinderance to experiencing freedom and joy in life.

This is the third book by this author I’ve read, and so far all resonate well with practical examples and tips...10/10.

I have learned that I am not a perfectionist as defined by this author, not at all. I always thought I was, but maybe I am "just" OCD. I feel so badly for anyone who meets this author's definition as life sure would be hell and an endless nightmare. Admitting that I am not a perfectionist, that ends up really not qualifying me to leave feedback on the suggested interventions, but I will anyway from my non perfectionist position. If one were a perfectionist, I would think it would take a tremendous amount of effort and time for the suggested interventions to work, and likely not even then. The mindset would be deep and a few techniques and exercises wouldn't cut it. Interestingly, there are numerous grammatical errors and I can't help but wonder if they were done on purpose to make a point.

Doesnt offer much in terms of guidance. Just call it a book fr the wicked.

At 2000 pages, this book is twice the size of other legal textbooks. It's needlessly long and doesn't do the top-down, trimming editing that editors of other books do.

This book works in tandem with the Brest book, providing 2013 updates. I would like to order next year's edition, since it will have the latest updates on the DOMA ruling.

Book in good condition with a few highlights and comments, which actually seems to be helpful for me being a law student learning the material for the first time.

I have the case book for this supplement for my Con Law class and am completely lost. The book fails to explain the underlying principles that many students new to Con Law haven't yet learned. I was very excited when I saw a supplement to the book. This is not a supplement. I was hoping to have something that may give the basics or explain some of the big picture aspects of the casebook, like a normal supplement. This is simply additional material that the casebook editors didn't have room for in the already too long casebook. It is nothing more than additional cases and ramblings of the writers. I was very disappointed that such a book would be named a "supplement" as it is of no use to better understanding the material.
