I didn’t really know what to expect when I started Timekeeper by Tara Sim. The book has gotten a lot of hype leading up to the release, but I didn’t really know what the book was about. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I enjoyed this book a lot.The book is set in Victorian England where life in cities around the world are controlled by clock towers. The concept of Stopped time, where a city with a damaged clock tower could remain trapped within the same time forever, reminds me a little of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Where in Miss Peregrine’s, the people repeat the same day over and over, the townspeople in Timekeeper can’t escape the moment that all time stopped. These people can’t escape the bubble of Stopped time they’ve been trapped under. Well, enter the main protagonist, Danny Hart, who is the youngest clock mechanic who hasn’t seen in father for three years because his clock mechanic father has been trapped inside a Stopped town.Prior to the start of the story in Timekeeper, Danny has undergone a stressful event and now fears working with clocks, but still wants find a way to save his father. He longs to be assigned to the clock tower that’s being built near the same area his father is currently trapped. However, the Lead, a man who oversees all the clock mechanics in London, decides to test the waters and assigns Danny to a relatively easier job first. He’s been assigned to Enfield where he meets a mysterious boy, Colton, the town’s clock spirit.Danny and Colton are seriously the cutest. Tara Sim manages to incorporate a light-hearted loving feel into the text that reminds me of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. You can’t help but love them and ship them practically from the first moment they meet. However, we soon learn that humans can’t just fall in love with a clock spirit and thus, it is sadly a forbidden love.The characters are wonderful and there’s a mystery sort of element to this story because there’s someone, or someones, who are planting bombs and destroying the clock towers. Now, there’s romance and mystery in this book and it’s fun trying to guess the perpetrator(s).Danny’s story is heartbreaking at times. He’s lonely and lost at the beginning of the book and his only friends are Cassie, a car mechanic, and Matthias, his father’s friend who was once a clock mechanic. He doesn’t see or speak much with his mother, and hasn’t since his father got trapped inside a Stopped town. All the dynamics between the characters have a lovely depth to them that makes them feel so real. Danny and his mother have some gut-wrenching moments, but I can also see where they’re coming from.The setting manages to incorporate Victorian England with a magical wisp of storytelling that brings the story to life. The clock towers are the literal force that keeps the world running. Without them, the world would go into chaos with time skipping, stopping, or any other number of things that could go wrong. This is such a fascinating concept to me, and I loved reading this book’s take on this. I also love Danny and Colton’s story not just as a love story, but the fact that it’s so nice to have a story set in 1875 and have LGBTQ characters be happy and, for the most part, accepted by their peers.There’s an endless amount of time jokes in Timekeeper and I find them corny, but absolutely hilarious. It adds some light-hearted levity to the very serious nature that there’s the clock towers are being bombed, and could result in Stopping the towns.I really enjoyed Timekeeper. There’s nothing about this book that would suggest this is Tara Sim’s debut novel, because it’s just so well done. There’s so many quotable parts and the ending most certainly took me by surprise. I can’t wait to read the next book to find out what happens next to Danny!There comes a moment when time seems to slip faster, running long then short, shadows shrinking as the sun climbs. It’s the moment, he decided, when you’re no longer a child. When the concept of time and the need for more of it come together and make you powerless. Tara Sim's debut book, Timekeeper, was one of those books for me. I adore it so much! But I haven't been able to write a review for it since I first read it in November of last year no matter how hard I've tried. I've even reread it via the audiobook and I still can't coherently explain my love for it. But I can give you five reasons why you should pick it up.1. The MythologyI adored this world ruled by clocks and clock towers! I found the mythology that hinted at the origin of the clock towers fascinating! The story of the old gods was perfectly intertwined with the "present day" narrative of the characters. Not all of my questions were answered in this book and I need the next ones in my hands. I can't wait to learn more about the towers and the clock spirits.2. The RomanceI'm not going to say much about the romance between Danny and Colton other than it was absolutely adorable! I was totally shipping them by their third meeting with each other. I would recommend this book for the romance alone.3. The Representation of Grief, Loss, Trauma and PTSDThe characters in this book have not had easy times and some of them have been through multiple traumas. "I was in an accident. I got out. I'm safe now."From the first time Danny said his mantra to keep himself from breaking down, I actually gasped. I knew this was something important because I *knew* what was happening here. I knew what had to have happened to him.Sometimes you don't get out. Sometimes you do and that's only the beginning. It's going to be hard. Even years later, you might not feel safe. Sometimes trauma means you live with the scars. Sometimes you deal with them in ways that damage yourself or others. But reading books like this, that show such trauma and healing (even slow, disjointed, and derailed) with rawness and honesty... it helps. Danny, his mother, Matthias, and his best friend, Cassie, have all been through horrible things and they all responded in different and exceedingly realistic ways. People respond to trauma differently and all of those responses are valid. It was so nice to see these topics handled so well.4. Danny and Cassie's FriendshipOne of my favorite things about this book was Danny and Cassie's friendship. Their friendship was everything! They cared for each other and you can tell that they will have each other's backs no matter what. I loved their interactions so much! It was also refreshing to see a friendship between a guy and a girl that was free from romantic pining. I seriously want to see more of these kinds of friendships in YA.5. The Family InteractionsDanny's family isn't perfect. In fact, they are about as far from from perfect as you can get. They're drowning in grief and stressed out about finances and that colors their interactions. But I loved that so much of this book was focused on Danny's interactions with his mom, his worry about his dad, and the comfort he drew from his godfather. There was also themes of found family throughout the book and it was glorious. I love this recent trend in YA where the main character's family is actually present and accounted for in their life even if they don't know how to interact with each other like Danny and his mother.This book blew my mind! It was a breath of fresh air in the world of YA books and I can't help but sing its praises. I loved this world of clock mechanics and clock spirits and I ship the romance so hard! Also, the audiobook narrator was absolutely fantastic if audiobooks are your thing. I seriously can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the books in this series. Tara Sim has earned herself a permanent spot on my autobuy list.

About the Author

Randall Fulton has more than 36 years of electrical engineering experience in software and electronic hardware development and verification. He holds a BS from the Pennsylvania State University and earned his FAA DER credentials in software and programmable logic devices while working at Boeing Commercial Aircraft. As a DER, he has had approval authority for programmable logic devices since 1997 and has worked numerous Part 23 and Part 25 certification programs with field programmable gate arrays, ASIC, and software. Randall, along with Roy Vandermolen, taught the DO-254 practitioners course for RTCA in Washington, DC from 2006 to 2009. Randall has also taught the Airborne Electronic Hardware Job Functions class for the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City. He currently works as an FAA consultant DER through his company SoftwAir Assurance, Inc. Roy Vandermolen is an electronics design engineer with more than 35 years of experience ranging from vacuum tubes to programmable logic devices, but has spent the majority of that time designing and verifying programmable logic devices and the circuit cards that employ them. Roy holds a BS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and is currently a staff engineer and certification manager for electronic flight control systems at Moog Aircraft and an airborne electronics hardware OBAR for Boeing Commercial Aircraft. Roy has worked in a variety of research laboratories, educational institutions, military R&D facilities, and commercial aircraft flight controls manufacturers. At Moog Aircraft, Roy has been involved in the design, verification, and certification of numerous Level A flight control systems. Just finished a detailed read of this new textbook on DO-254. This is the first comprehensive look at this standard provided by practitioners responsible for assessing Do-254 compliance. The book helps fill a void created by differing regulatory interpretations and widely disparate opinions on how and when DO-254 should be applied. The book offers a fairly straight-forward treatment of the complete contents of DO-254. The strongest chapters are those devoted to hardware requirements analysis/capture and something the authors have dubbed "Design Assurance Through Design Practice." These chapters drive home the point that design assurance is much more than simply completing certain process-driven documentation. Rather, the proper application of design assurance requires a strong foundation of solid requirements implemented and verified via a mindset of bulletproofing your design and going the extra mile to anticipate possible faults in your logic. Detailed examples focused on ways shift registers can misbehave due to clock skew or synthesis tools can modify your logic design thus creating problems in unexpected places are especially beneficial to the reader. There are opportunities for improvement in the second edition including more discussion of where it may be possible to reduce effort for lower design assurance levels, more background on safety concerns associated with specific technologies (e.g., SRAM, COTS IP), creation and use of appropriate HDL standards, and how to ensure successful SOI audits of your DO-254 processes. A second edition could also easily add additional material of other potential error sources and how they should be addressed/mitigated within the DO-254 context. Finally, a treatment of additional verification techniques including Assertion-Based Verification (ABV) and Constrained Random Testing (CRT) and their use in satisfying DO-254 objectives would be helpful. Even without this material, this book is a significant contribution toward helping practitioners use and comply with DO-254.

This is, by far, the best book ever written on DO-254 specifically in regards to the philosophy of requirements and what it means to have a correct requirement. The future of verification is in this book - the industry as a whole will go over to DO-254 type requirements based verification as designs become more and more complex. I believe people will look back on this book in 10-15 years as similar to the 'Gang of Four' Design Patterns book that has designed software for the past twenty years.This book is very much a cognizant, detailed and thoughtful effort - while the main topics of the book can be used as a casual reader for managers, as a DO-254 verification low level contractor I cannot express enough gratitude regarding the detail - it has answered many questions that cannot be answered by an RTCA specification or DO-254.com planning charts.

This is the first significant treatment of this important standard for airborne electronic hardware. All of the major deliverables are summarized and, importantly, differences between DO-254 and DO-178 (the software standard) are highlighted. This is a great addition to the literature on the expanding sphere of avionics. I recommend reading this volume along with Developing Safety-Critical Software: A Practical Guide for Aviation Software and DO-178C Compliance 1st Edition by Leanna Rierson and the Digital Avionics Handbook, Third Edition 3rd Edition by Cary Spitzer, Uma Ferrell, and Thomas Ferrell.

I have been hoping someone would write a practical guide to RTCA/DO-254. It is here in this book. Written by two professionals that have lived it for many years. There is sufficient background on the RTCA guidance document for the novice to understand the intent and for the long suffering to explore the aha! moments of understanding. I thoroughly enjoyed these moments of insight myself as I read and reread the text. There is an excellent chapter on requirements which gives insight into a method of approach that makes the requirements-based verification of the end item almost a no-brainer! This chapter alone is worth the investment for those involved in requirements-based design and verification. It is about time. Thanks a million!!!

This book has provided me many insights to the practical side of working with DO-254, but one of my biggest frustrations, especially given the high cost of the book, is the fact that the table of contents in the Kindle edition does not link to the associated page. Pease fix this so I can give this book the review & rating it really deserves.

When is comes to requirements writing concepts, this is a book that can apply not just to DO-254 but to DO-178B/C and ARP-4754A also.

This book is a terrific resource and a clear, stepwise treatment of how to design DO-254 hardware correctly the first time.So very many of the clients I've come across are convinced that the planning (what's called "SOI-1" in DO-254), design (SOI-2), and verification (SOI-3) tasks for DO-254 are merely Annoying Documents and not useful for anything other than to check-off a box for the FAA.The author has produced a blueprint for doing all of this correctly, and backed it up with reasoning -- that planning has to come before design, that writing requirements before ANY VHDL or Verilog allows you to prove that you did it right, that the reqs have to be well-thought-out (not vague) and testable, and that writing the requirements with verification (not design or implementation) first in mind saves MASSIVE amounts of time later when the designer has to prove conclusively that "what you designed is also what you verified, and they are both what you wanted in the first place."Highly recommended.Daniel Conaway -- X-Tek Corporation

The Ballets Russes and their impresario, Sergei Diaghilev, are celebrated for their impact on the art of ballet starting in the early 20th century, through Diaghilev's sudden death in 1929. Garafola takes pains to stress in her introduction that she is dealing not only with the art of the Ballets Russes, which others before have also done, but also to cover the business side of Diaghilev's work (the second part, "Enterprise") and the development of an audience attuned to modern trends in ballet (the third part, "Audience"). Accordingly, the first part, "Art", does not claim to be an exhaustive treatment of all the Ballets Russes productions, but is more an overview of the artistic ethos of the company, with coverage given to particularly celebrated productions, including "Le sacre du printemps", of course, as well as "Jeux". The "Enterprise" sections shows how Diaghilev had to schmooze and charm wealthy and powerful patrons, and how he sometimes failed at that, alienating the wrong people at the wrong times on more than one occasion. The emphasis in the "Audience" section is on the cultivation of the ballet audience in Paris, naturally enough as Paris was the home of the Ballets Russes, but also in London, which is interesting because Diaghilev evidently had uneasy feelings towards England.Garafola tells the story well, and the photos include selections that may not be all that familiar. Although the idea is good, this book has incorrect measurements in the recipes. Or at least I hope that they are incorrect. The oatmeal recipe calls for a cup of oatmeal, 1/4 cup of cinnamon and 1/4 cup of salt. Other recipes called for 1/4 cup of black pepper which is a lot of pepper for one recipe. Of course, with these measurements you would lose weight because you wouldn't be able to eat the food!

The two things I like most about this book are the lack of typos, and the chapter structure, in which each successive chapter builds on the security and lessons preened from previous chapters. A great Cisco router security reference.

CiscoPress's "Cisco Router Firewall Security" by Richard Deal is designed as a book to secure perimeter routers. It is both a practical (and much needed) CiscoPress guide on how to harden a key piece of the network AND an excellent tool for any potential CCIE candidate (either for the Security and R&S lab). On pretty-much every page are either detailed diagrams or complex configurations discussing the topic at hand.The other reviews of this book all comment from a security perspective, and I cannot hope to add anything new to these reviews (especially Richard Bejtlich's review). I can comment from the perspective as someone studying for the CCIE. In Parts 3 and 4, the book dives into the different types of ACLs that you may encounter on the lab. Reflexive ACLs, CBAC (Content-Based Access Control), and NBAR (Network-Based Application Recognition) are each given their own chapter and fully explained in depth (something not replicated in other CiscoPress books - I own over 50 CiscoPress books). I particularly like the discussion on page 308 on how best to counter a Smurf Attack. Chapter 13 on Lock-and-Key ACLs is also a valuable must-read for any potential CCIE candidates. In chapter 17, on page 679, is a great discussion on how to counter a TCP SYN flood attack.Overall, I think "Cisco Router Firewall Security" is the best CiscoPress book published that discusses best-practices for securing Cisco routers. Too be honest, I am kind of surprised I do not see more 'noise' on this book (either from reviews here or on the CCIE list at Groupstudy.com). I have to believe it is from the title, as the title almost implies that this is a firewall book. That is too bad, as this is an excellent book for any network admin concerned about security. Weighing in at over 850 pages, this book will take some time to digest, but will be well worth the effort!I give this book 5 pings out of 5:!!!!!

I really enjoyed reading Cisco Router Firewall Security (CRFS) by Richard Deal. This book delivers just what a technical Cisco book should: discussion of concepts, explanation of command syntax, and practical examples. The author offers several ways to solve a security problem and then recommends his preferred choice. He correctly leans towards applying cryptography when available and avoids clear-text authentication methods or control channels. If you avoid the first chapter and keep a few minor caveats in mind, I would consider CRFS to be a five-star book.CRFS covers all of the major technologies I hoped to see in a book on Cisco security functions. Though published in August 2004, it manages to provide details on the newest Cisco IOS features that contemporary books often ignore. For example, the author emphasizes the benefits of configuring SSH access, and not only SSHv1; he explains that SSHv2 is preferred. I found the book's coverage of access control lists to be very clear, and I appreciated the author's discussions of strengths and weaknesses of different ACL types. Mr. Deal is also very conscious of the load placed on the router whenever higher-end security features or traffic inspection is invoked. His warnings provide operational insights to using IOS security features. Beginning with chapter 3, each section presented just the information I needed to implement various security features.I gave CRFS four stars, and not five, because I found some of the author's perceptions of security to be confusing or sometimes wrong. He repeats at least five times the oft-quoted but never substantiated myth that "70 percent of network attacks" are internal. This is completely backwards, according to CSI/FBI and Secret Service studies that say around 70 percent of attacks are caused by outsiders. While some of the most devastating incidents are indeed perpetrated by insiders, the majority of attacks continue to be launched from outside the security perimeter. While this point may not seem that significant, it is not a solid footing on which the author can justify certain security recommendations.While reading CRFS I also sensed that neither the author nor his technical editors were security professionals. I do not mean that they do not or have not handled security incidents. In fact, several of Mr. Deal's stories explicitly and properly address intrusions and other events. Rather, I sensed the author and his team were networking professionals first, with security duties tacked on. For example, p. 8 lists applications, the OS, and network infrastructure as "threats to your company's network." These have vulnerabilities -- they are not threats. On p. 28 Mr. Deal says "SSL can protect only web application traffic," but this is wrong. Pages 31-33 lists "some of the most common" DoS attacks, but the explanations there of chargen and ping of death attacks are wrong. WinNuke, a Windows DoS exploit from 1997, is also listed! Page 94 says "IDS solutions are still in their infancy," although they have been deployed for over 10 years. These and related security misperceptions made me believe a person with a primary security role should have reviewed CRFS.It is easy to overlook these security faux pas, however. CRFS does a better job describing some security issues than other security-focused books. For example, I found the coverage of the effects of DoS attacks upon a router to be better than books specifically written about DoS! Mr. Deal frequently advocates monitoring as a way to know what is happening on the network, and I found his IDS deployment guidance to be sound.To the extend I could evaluate Mr. Deal's discussion of Cisco features, I believe they are correct. One notable exception involves using the established keyword with ACLs. On p. 269 and elsewhere, the author claims "the established keyword looks to see if the ACK, FIN, PSH, RST, SYN, or URG TCP control flags are set. If they are, the TCP traffic is allowed in." This is incorrect; established looks for only the ACK or RST flags. This is not a major concern as other filtering options provide better defense anyway.Overall, I consider CRFS to be an excellent piece of work. I am adding it to my recommended reading lists and I strongly suggest than anyone using Cisco routers in their perimeter read and heed this book. Keep an eye out for Mr. Deal's next book on building VPNs with Cisco gear.

Advanced security consultants may want to go to Chapter 21, Case Study Configuration, and refer back to the previous chapters for more explanation when needed. I give Deal 5 stars for the layout and structure, which includes notes, cautions, tables, and configurations. But what I found most valuable was his many real life illustrations from his consulting business.

Before I start my review, let me comment on some of the other reviewers (the 1 and 2 star ones). Some of them comment that the author was too involved in the famous capture of Kevin Mitnick. While that is true, they seem to forget that this capture was in 1996 while the book was published in 1991. It seems they have not read the book before writing the review.Back to the book. Cyberpunk contains three different hacker stories. The first one of Kevin Mitnick ending up with his first capture (not the 1996 one). The second is of Pengo, the German hacker who leaked information to Russia. The third is of Robert Morris who created the famous internet worm that caused "the internet to go down" (well...)The first part is a story called "Kevin Mitnick: The Dark-side Hacker" which describes the early hacking of perhaps the best know hacker Kevin Mitnick. The authors of this book are not technical experts at hacking and that is readable in the book. The technical details are missing or often not incredibly correct (or something uninteresting is presented as if its a big thing). The book mainly focuses on the social relationships between people.The second part if "Pengo and Project Equalizer" which describes Pengo, the German hacker who had sold some of its information (and the VMS source code) to East Germany. This story is the other side of "The Cuckoos nest" by Cliff Stoll. The Cuckoos nest describes how Cliff tracked the hacker in Germany whereas Cyberpunk describes what was going on between the hackers and how they ended up selling information to Germany. Its an interesting story again, though... the hackers didn't seem to use much (if any) technical hacks, so if you are looking for technical hacking info, this is not the book.The third story surprised me. It was the story of Robert Morris who wrote the internet worm in 1988. It surprised me because the history behind the story was interesting, how Robert grew up and how his interest in computer security grew over time. It was amusing to me how a well-constructed piece of software can cause so much trouble because it was badly written :)To get back to the criticism from other reviewers about the author being involved. Partly these comments are invalid (see above) and partly the are valid. John Markoff was deeply involved during all of the stories. He was in contact with the law enforcement during the Mitnick story, he was a friend of Cliff Stoll during the second story. During the third story, he was called by Cliff Stoll and was a friend of Bob Morris, the father of Robert Morris, and was one of the earliest people to discover who created the internet worm. From that perspective, the book is not a neutral journalist perspective as you might expect.I was thinking of rating this book between 3 and 4 stars. 4 because I enjoyed reading it. 3 because of the non-neutrality and the lack of correct technical details. I chose 4 because of the epilogue (written by the other author, Katie Hafner) which described the follow-up of the three stories and asks really valid questions related to whether Mitnick was really the famous bad hacker he is depicted as.Worth reading, but there are probably better books on the subject (as other reviewers also suggest)

Having just read Stoll's Cuckoo's Egg, I'm amazed at the large number of supporting details that are completely wrong in the second section. It certainly casts doubt on the veracity of the facts in the other two sections and leads me to believe little if any fact checking was done on the book. As an overview, it's certainly interesting and well-written.

I bought this book because I was interested in human aspects of these stories (RTM especially), more than the technical side. I found it very satisfying, and more. I could have not imagined it is so detailed and even ... entertaining.Reading this book I've felt again that nice atmosphere I first met while reading the superlative Cliff Stoll's "The Cuckoo's Egg". Indeed, those of you who have luckily read it too, will find Stoll himself here in an important role in the chapter about RTM...

I have read this when I was younger. It is a great read

Great book, particularly the RTM section which is related to Professor Robert T. Morris. That part of the story is amazing!

I found it informative mostly for the detailed biography of Robert Morris, and a little bit of Kevin Mitnick's, as well.

Very "dramatic". I would say 10% of "Cyberpunk" is worth the read."Cyberpunk" is probably good for somebody that does not have IT background because it is written like novel and this is exactly where this book belongs. If you are looking for a book that describes actual events don't waste your time on "Takedown" or "Cyberpunk". If you read only "Cyberpunk" you will have wrong perception of hackers as lunatics with prostitute girlfriends surrounded by a drugs. Markoff has some imagination I can tell you that.

For those who have traveled to Africa, especially safari hunters, and have an interest in African culture, hunting, the safari business, and, in this case, Zimbabwean politics, this is a great read. I have read plenty of classic safari writers published by Safari Press and others, and this is one of the most interesting books I have read on Africa and hunting. Very well written, albeit with a few spelling/edit errors (which do not take away from the story), this is the story of an American who hired out to a safari company in Zimbabwe to work as a camp assistant for a season. There are great descriptions of the country, camps, people and animals and how things work in this part of Africa. The author also provides unique insight into the abilities and conduct of the client hunters on safari and the lengths that PHs and the safari companies go to ensure success, safety and comfort for them. When I finished I hoped that the author had returned for another season to provide more material for a sequel, and perhaps shed light on how the country has fared under Mugabe's ongoing "reform" program, but no such luck.

I really enjoyed the style of writing that Bruce uses to describe what life is like in the safari business. Even though I have been on several safaris in South Africa and most recently in Zimbabwe, I never appreciated the amount of work that goes into making a safari successful. Each page brought me back to Africa and I could easily and quickly relate to the life enjoyed while on a safari. I pictured what each day was like and the descriptions of the events and the sunrises and sunsets was so vivid that I felt like I was right there enjoying the experience with Bruce. I hunted Zimbabwe last August, 2013 and can say that the hunting was excellent but I also got to experience the political and governmental "It's Africa, Baby" that Bruce describes and thought I would not be leaving Zimbabwe as scheduled. Thankfully with the help of a local attorney and my safari Boss, everything was worked out. I hope to return to Africa again and again!

I simply loved this book. It reminded me of my own trip to South Africa. The author has a simple direct way of writing in the present tense as if you are right there with him. He made me cry when he wrote at the end while back in the States that he would give everything he owned to be back in Africa. I know I would have liked the author had I met him. His account touched me deeply and his humanity was always present. I highly recommend this book to anyone thinking about hunting in Africa or anyone who has been there.. There is more useful information in this book about present day safaris than any other book I have read. I wish the author the best and maybe someday will have the privilege to meet him.

Not being a hunter of large game ever, I will say that I have enjoyed all the fact put forward in the book. All the places mentioned in the book, I have been there in person though not to hunt however in other evens. There are item that I did not enjoy but that is because I am not a hunter of large game and though I do understand that there has to be a reduction of the herds and this is one way of doing it. The records of the political aspects of the book are very true to fact and any person in the world that thinks that what went on in Zimbabwe was untrue, wake up and smell the roses because what was mentioned ion the book was a very small tip of the iceberg of exactly what took place. Overall, an intresting account of life in Zimbabwe and the difficulties that are encounted. I recommend this book at anyone who is intedrested in the outdoors as well as places.

Like reading a diary. Lots of repetitive descriptions of daily occurrences. Some really interesting stuff and some just ok. I read the whole book, but I kept putting it down for days at a time.

Before you entertain any ideas about going on safari in Zimbabwe, you must read this book. Excellent accounting of camp life and the realities of present day Zimbabwe.

The author communicates the details of the people, places, and animals of Africa with great skill, flair, and passion.Definitely treat yourself to this memoir -- even if you are not into Africa or safaris, you will be glad you read this book because it is so good!
