Kids should love this, lots of action and tension, the writer does a good job of ending this on a cliff hanger ready for volume 2,Art work is not the best, but I've seen much worse. You do need a colour screen to enjoy the art - of course!It is a short story and it's only a buck, better quality writing for less than most charge for hackneyed crap!Worth the read and worth the priceIt’s nice to read Minecraft books written by people who know English and can write at the same time. My 9 year old son has finished all of the books currently available in the Diary of an 8-Bit Warrior series. He decided to start the Diary of a Nether Kitten series while waiting for the next 8-bit book to be released in April. He said he really liked this book, and plans to read the other books in this series as well.

My 9 year old is an avid reader and Mincraft-esque books are his preferred genre. He LOVES the 8-bit warrior series (I have to force him to read new books instead of re-reading these) and we search out anything by CubeKid. A cat lover, he was excited by this title and was not disappointed.

My son loved this book! He really likes cats and Minecraft. I'm so happy to find a book that combines his interests!

My son loved this book and loves most of what he has read by Cube Kid. He really enjoyed how the Nether Kitten was poised to be the hero of this book, fighting off the ender (creatures? oops - mom didn't listen well enough to his full summary). We are leaving this review in hopes that it will help the author finally release the second and third book that are promised in this set. My son is VERY eager to see what happens next! Please don't leave us hanging! :-)

I was excited when I saw this book coming out and pre-ordered it. I am sort of glad to have it in my library, but only as a quick-glance reference list. I do not think it is at all good for *learning* specific cast-ons/bind-offs, though it touts itself as a step-by-step guide.Pros:- Spiral bound- Each CO/BO has a list of "Characteristics" (i.e., invisible beginning, can be a little loose and sloppy), and a list of "Good For"s (i.e., toe up socks, bags, top-down hats and mittens)- Each CO/BO has a few close-up "finished" photos that show you what it's supposed to look like.- The CO/BOs are categorized for quick reference; for example, the CO categories and number of COs referenced:--- All Purpose (8)--- Ribbing (moderate stretch) (4)--- Ribbing (a lot of stretch) (8)--- End-of-Row (5)--- Super Stretchy (10)--- Decorative (9)--- Temporary & Hems (5)--- Toe-Up Socks (3)--- Circular (2)--- (Note, the BOs are far fewer, 22 total)- The book is designed pretty well & has an indexCons:As I said, this book is not, IMO, good for learning any of the CO/BOs referenced in it. Perhaps I am spoiled by YouTube and TECHKnitter's blog (and many other *free* online resources that have set the standard, in my mind, for exceptional explanations of knitting methods), but for every CO/BO I have referenced in this book, I had to look it up on YouTube to understand how its done. Here's why:- The instructions are very sparsely worded and quite a few times haven't made sense to me- The photos are RIDICULOUSLY small and waaay too zoomed-out to see what the needles/yarn-strands are doing. This actually pisses me off because there is TONS of space around the photos for more photos or larger photos. Also, these photos clumsily attempt to "line up" with the steps they are associated with; however, there are no notations in the photos to reference back to the step in which they belong. It's also not readily apparent which part of the corresponding step the photo belongs to as some of the steps have many comma-delimited parts.In summary, I see this publication as a glorified reference book, and not a terribly bad one, but it, for me, is not at all a how-to. On the cover it states the book has 54 "step-by-step" methods, but the step-by-steps feel lacking and lazy, especially compared to the decent work done on organizing its content. Interestingly, the book references specific YouTube videos in its Resources appendix. It would have been nice to have those inline with their corresponding CO/BO, however. If half-stars were permitted, I would give it 2.5 stars.

I've been knitting since I was 9 years old...over 50 years. I've knit every style imaginable with every technique. I knit right handed, left handed, English, Continental & Portuguese.I've got more knitting pattern books than is rational for anyone to have, and more yarn than many knit shops.So when I buy a knitting book, it has to be really, really useful. And this one is. Really, really useful.First - the reviewers who say they can't see or use the charts should likely have their cataracts removed. I did and this book is totally useable. Don't know what they're talking about!Second - You've gotta love a book that fits in your knitting bag. I take it with me to knit gatherings and have used it dozens of times to help someone solve a cast on or bind off dilemma.3rd - I like the fact that each type is in it's own category, and that there are several choices within each category.4th - There are other, perhaps more comprehensive tomes on cast on, bind offs...but really...who wants to drag a 5 lb book along with you whenever you go to your knit group, shop, seminar etc.

Ignore my dye-stained nail (review on those gloves won't be high either)...This book would be great if it weren't made nearly useless by the absolute crap paper it's printed on. Paper holes were punched into paper that is so thin that it sticks together at these holes and rips apart when you turn pages.I think you'll avoid tearing pages if you turn it on its ends and press your thumb along the edges to help separate the pages.As for content, it's great. Clear pictures, good directions and tips for how to use each method. Good for learning new techniques and remembering ones not used in a while.It's a bit much for a project bag, but good addition in my knitting space so I don't have to get up and go to my library.That said, I don't recommend this book and am disappointed because of the paper quality.

This is a smallish book that is packed with information. You can easily carry this in your knitting bag without adding much extra weight. A terrific resource for knitters. Although I have done a number of the cast ons and bind offs in this book, I usually go with the good old long tail cast on and standard bind off because they are easy, and I don't feel like going to the internet to refresh my memory on other methods. Now I have them at my fingertips and can start and end my knitting differently. This book is spiral bound, so it lays flat - very nice feature! Each method has pictures of the front and back of the fabric, characteristics of each, and what they are good for. Clear step by step photos and written instructions are very helpful and leave me with no questions. I highly recommend this book for knitters of any experience level.

C. Hassell Bullock wrote An Introduction to the Old Testament Prophetic Books where he discusses each time period and prophetic work within Israel's history. He generally follows the same literary pattern in every chapter when discussing each work of prophetic literature: the prophet's life, an outline, the date of the work, the literary nature and authenticity of the work, any historical issues concerning the book, an analysis of the book, and the writer's theology and message. The book is compiled based upon the period in which the writer is authoring his work: Neo-Assyrian period, Neo-Babylonian period, and the Persian period. This review will be confined to the "major" prophets. They are designated as such because of the length of their works; not the importance of the content in comparison to the other prophetic works in the OT.Isaiah: Prophet Par ExcellenceIsaiah is considered by the author to be "...a bright star in the prophetic constellation of the 8th century B.C., soaring like an eagle in his literary and theological distinction." Concerning the authenticity and authorship of the book, Bullock does not believe that Isaiah is a composite of oracles by different authors in the Isaiah tradition but an "anthology of genuine Isaiah prophecies" written over a long period of time by a man with ample personal, spiritual, and cultural assets. The book of Isaiah itself is split up into two parts (part 1: chaps. 1-33 and part 2: chaps. 34-66) with seven main divisions: chs. 1-12, 13-23, 24-27, 28-33, 34-35, 36-39, and 40-66. Recognizing the fear of oversimplification, the author reduces Isaiah's theology to two encompassing ideas found within the text of chapter one: "my people" and "the Holy One of Israel." Dr. Bullock remarks that "The first term is the stamp of the Lord's claim upon Israel, implying Israel's covenant relation to Him, whereas the second term emphasizes Yahweh's distinctiveness and sets Him apart from Israel." The whole of Isaiah's rebukes, oracles, and prophesies concern the interface of those two themes being worked out within the history of a sinful people. The means of reconciliations within the book for a sinful people who have broken faith with their covenant God are the prophet, Cyrus, and the coming Messiah who will usher in a glorious, new age. Bullock points out that "...[the] mission, which the prophet had announced but not accomplished, and whose way for future development Cyrus had paved, was uniquely effected by the obedient suffering of the Servant."Jeremiah: Prophet to the Nations Jeremiah, who prophesied during the New-Babylonian period, is described by the author as the prophet to the nations because he was convinced of Yahweh's universal sovereignty. All men in all nations were called to account to the Lord of the universe, Israel's God. The author believes the work is authentic with the material coming from Jeremiah himself through the hand of his scribe Baruch unless good evidence says otherwise. Because the work does not meet the standard criterion for arranging the prophetic books, does not possess a distinct chronology and contains varying subject matter, the book is split into three "books" based upon "centers" and identifiable criteria: book one (1:1-25:13), two biographical interludes (26-29 & 32-45) book two (30-31), and book three (46-51). The purpose of Jeremiah's work was twofold: one, to announce the sin of Judah who consistently forsook the Lord and devised a religious system that was abhorrent to the Holy One of Israel and two, to herald a message of impending doom upon God's people if repentance was not forthcoming. Four prevalent ideas or motifs found within the work are the prophet's prayers, the concept of the love of God, the juxtaposition of the old and new covenants, and the future of Judah. Ezekiel's message is one of polarity: God will turn his face from Israel (7:22) and yet he will not hide his face (39:29), Israel drives Yahweh from the sanctuary (8:6) and yet he gives instructions concerning the cultic practices (37:26-28), Yahweh gives up the land (14:12-20) and yet reclaims the land for his people (47:13-48:35), Israel breaks the old covenant (16:59) and yet Yahweh establishes an everlasting covenant (37:26), etc. Ezekiel's message also centers on the knowledge of God as the goal of his prophetic ministry. The people are to be holy because it reflects Yahweh's character as true and worthy of worship.Daniel: Witness in Babylonia Daniel, who prophesied during the Persian period, was a young man deported to Babylonia who witnessed and testified to the true God of the earth through his prophetic ministry. The author recognizes the varied historical issues concerning the book that bears Daniel's name: the "third year of Jehoiakim" and the dating of Daniel's exile, the historical issues surrounding the "monarchy" of Belshazzar, the nature of who Darius the Mede actually is, the issue of why some of the book is in Hebrew and some in Aramaic, and the prevalence and existence of loan words within the work. The dating of the book is also a convoluted discussion because of the history, language, and placement of the book within the Hebrew canon. Dr. Bullock believes that the book is set up into two unified sections with one characterized by backward reflections (1-6) and the other characterized by apocalyptic utterances and oracles about events within cosmic history (2; 6-12). The major theme of the book is that Yahweh is the sovereign God over the spiritual and political realm. God's complete control was manifested in the great events surrounding the fall of Jerusalem, the exile, and the rising and falling of ancient nations.Likes/Dislikes I appreciated Bullock's work for the thorough history and background information concerning each of the books. The most interesting parts for me were the historical problems concerning the authorship and authenticity of each book. I really enjoyed reading certain sections like Ezekiel, Zechariah, and Jeremiah because of my lack of information and knowledge concerning those books (I have not read Ezekiel and Jeremiah in a while...). It is encouraging to see the general unity in purpose and message of the prophets: Yahweh is faithful when his people are faithless, sin has consequences, there is hope and judgment on the Day of the LORD, and that God is the sovereign Lord of history. My only issue with the book is that it was quite monotonous and tedious at times but that is to be expected when trying to cover so much history within a 413 page book. I would have also benefited from some information concerning the authors he was rebutting when defending the conservative stance on each of the books.

This is definitely a textbook, and one I would highly recommend to anyone doing any level of preaching or research on the prophetic books. It is not organized cannonically (in the order the books appear in the Bible), but rather chronologically (when it is most likely they were written). Rather than give you a straight-forward "here's how it is" factual approach Bullock outlines the various controversies and stances regarding each book.That latter fact itself makes the book very valuable, for where commentaries or other books take one perspective and tend to present that as fact, this one presents varying perspectives. It definitely points towards one perspective in each case, supplying reasons for that support.I'm not so sure I would recommend this for more passive Bible study, of the "I just want to learn a little more about the Bible" variety. Rather, this book is for anyone who really wants to dive in and study about the prophetic books and start to try understand them from a more academic perspective.So, in the end, this is a solid book to supplement any Bible study being done on the prophetic books.

I bought this as a study tool. I am working on gathering information on the prophets of the Old Testament. I think this will be a plus in my research, will use it in study group at church.

Vic Bearcroft is a self-taught professional wildlife and pet portrait artist, who specialises in pastel on velour, but also works in pencil, watercolour, coloured pencil, charcoal and acrylic media. The illustrations in this "how-to" painting book are really nice - the author obviously loves his cats. I really appreciate all the time the author took with his drawings and choices of watercolors. Would recommend to anyone who loves cats and would like to paint them.

Whilst Joanie could be read as a stand alone story, the ending does segue into the next book and there are also a few 'lose ends'. I wouldn't class it as cliffhanger, but the story line is still quite open. I haven't read Book #1 but had absolutely no problem picking up the plot, understanding the 'world' it was set in, or knowing who was whom. There are a few spoilers in this but not enough that it's put me off catching up and reading Vivian, Virgin Vampire .This is a wonderful mix of new adult, paranormal, reverse-harem, romantic comedy. It's written from quite a few pov's but it's very easy to know who's voice you are 'hearing' and I found it both easy, as well as extremely enjoyable, to read.Joanie is a bit crazy, a lot loyal and an altogether wonderful character. She really drew me into the story and was a big part of why I enjoyed this. Whilst Aldren, Adrian and Abel are quite distinct characters, we don't 'hear' their voice enough to really get an in depth feel for them. However this is a light and fun read, so for me that didn't matter too much.What you will find is that it has a well thought through plot, with some unexpected twists and intriguing revelations as the story unfolds. It was highly entertaining and left me wanting so much more. I will most certainly be reading Lucy's story when it is released.Highly recommended to those who love a steamy vampire story and don't object to a few laughs along the way.

I read this book and enjoyed the storyline. Her take on vampires is a bit different than a normal vampire story. Either you are one or you are not.Jonie was Vivian's best friend, and something about Vivian's disappearance just isn't sitting right with her. She is now believe the tales told by Vivian's parents. While she is searching for the truth, she gets ambushed and taken prisoner. Jonie's parents are part of the group who attacked her, yet her mother can't tolerate the plans set in motion. In an attempt to rescue Jonie, her parents forces the change to start and manages to get the way out clear for her escape.She gets rescued by a set of brother vampires that Vivian had sent to watch her, And she discovers the truth of what had happened. The story continues on from there and I don't want to give any spoilers, but here are some questions to whet your appetite. What will be uncovered about the past that put these two in the hands of the hunter? Will Jonie be able to adapt to her new life? Are there more secrets to be uncovered? What will happen with the attraction to the vampires she calls the triple As? Will Jonie be reunited with the parents who chose not to destroy her, but aided her escape? Read the book to find out!I did receive a free copy so I could give an honest review, but I will tell you I will most likely be checking them out via Kindle Unlimited each time a new book is released!

Do you remember Viv from book one? Ok, if not, then you need to make a quick trip to read it, not that it's necessary, but it will give you the beginning of the back story to this terrific story. Anyway, Joanie has been Viv's best friend since kindergarten so when Viv went missing after prom and her parents were telling everyone she was at math camp, something didn't sit right. She knew Viv's mom thought she was an airhead, but even Joanie knew she was lying with that excuse. Not only that, but after all these years her parents were telling her to stay away from Viv's house, it wasn't safe. Wasn't safe?!? Something was going on and she intended to find out what everyone was hiding and find her best friend.S. Cinders has done an absolutely fabulous job of building a world full of magic, vampires, mystery, a royal court and all the greed and envy that go with it. Above all, she has given us heroes and heroines that will steam sizzle the pages, melt your heart and make you sigh with what could be. The action and adventure within the story blends so well with the plot. I've been mesmerized from the beginning of this series and "Joanie" only managed to wet my appetite for more which the cliffhanger promises. Great job Ms. Cinders

The real corker is when they get together with missing Viv's parents and snatch her off the street for some kind of 're-programming'... which leads to her mom helping her run away after slicing her wrist and forcing it into Joanie's mouth.A more hysterical, less feisty girl might just flip her lid after all that, but instead she falls in with three brothers who are also gorgeous triplets-- who share with her a life altering similarity. What's more, Vivian sent them. Nothing in Joanie's life will ever be the same because her suburban world is far stranger than she ever knew, and she has a big part to play in a global future.You don't have to read Virgin Vampire 1 to enjoy this kinky happily ever after, but as usual with Cinders books, there's a bigger picture that will only gel if you savor all three volumes.
