By far the best supplemental bar exam mindset book written, and as a 3 time repeater, I've read a bunch of them. This is not the typical how-to book written by authors who are basically "I passed my bar exam on the first try and I have a book's worth of notes to pass along to subsequent test takers who might pay for this book enabling me to pay off my exorbitant law school loans" authors.This author is a clinical law professor. He has many years of experience and insight into a wide variety of learners. He teaches bar prep at his law school, among other things, so he's used to dealing with a wide range of learners, especially law students who struggle with passing the bar exam. He's got mindset ideas common to most supplemental books. Yet, this book is leaps and bounds above those other books, in that he weaves attitude with performance skills. Through a series of very specific mini-examples and targeted skills exercises, the author takes the reader thru various essay and MPT traps he's seen over years of teaching. He points out the traps, and he also gives direction on strategies to avoid them. He gives targeted practice situations to work around those traps, and tools to self-evaluate your performance. This is unlike full essay work common to the bar prep programs, because the skills are short, allowing for your own level of repetition until mastery. The Zen tips are not as hokey as some of the mindset things in other books, and I found myself repeating them in my head a few times during the actual bar exam I passed.This book is well worth your money and your time.Chapter 3 is worth multiple reads. Do a general first read - no highlighting. Do a second read, working through the exercises on notebook paper. Do your third read as a target self-assessment. Repeat this process until you mastered it.This author really knows his stuff, and passes it along in a concise book. He helped this reader frame the fuller professional bar prep systems into a more personalized system that works, and he helped me address my own mindset hurdles, something the commercial bar prep programs failed to address.

This book is great and relatively inexpensive written by an actually a professor ( and he's not selling a system and he didn't just graduate from law school a couple of years ago which I appreciate.)What I needed and got was both a Zen approach and a great surprise - some solid help on the MBE. I'm struggling in California and the approach helped immediately. My scores went up 10%.I thank Professor Noreuil for taking the time and trouble to write this book and publish it. Not worth it... you’ll just be reading what you already know

I am a law professor and I mentor many bar sitters. Chad's advice and his use of Zen principles is an excellent toolkit for success.

This book is one of the most valuable investments a bar exam taker can make. I bought it and read it (it is a very quick read) before starting a commercial bar exam course. It allowed me to skip the course's essay-writing technique portions and focus more on the MBE portion of the exam. Using Professor Noreuil's guidance, I scored highly on every single practice essay that I submitted to the bar prep course's reviewers ( I submitted 14). This was quite the confidence booster. Ultimately, I passed both the July 2013 Arizona UBE and the Feb 2014 New Mexico exams on my first attempt. I can't recommend this book enough!

It is O.K. for beginners with no experience in Excel.

After struggling with several how to do it books on EXCEL, I finally found EXCEL Basics in 30 minutes. What a relief Ian Lamont writes in language that beginners can understand and he is well organized and knows what beginners really need to learn first. He doesn't overload the book with complications that merely distract from learning and tend to bore the beginner. This is not to say that the subject is easy, just that he really appreciates what a struggle it is for a newcomer to spreadsheet programs to grasp the basic concepts. The "30 minute" bit, is laughable; I have spent 30 minutes on each chapter and then had to review it, to be sure I had it right. But the effort was worth it. The index and glossary alone are a big help in getting started! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it is in small print. I used a magnifying glass to read it and wish that it was available in computer format so I could magnify it on the screen. When I have finished it, I hope to go to some of the other books on the subject and be able to understand what they are talking about.

Purchasing the Kindle version of this book was my mistake. A hard copy of a reference book is much easier to read.

This book is good for someone who knows nothing, but it really doesnt have as much as I expected it to have in it. A bit dissappointed. but if you are a total beginner it is a great book.

The film the book accompanies follows the story of Briski's attempts to teach photography to these children, who, she says, have "little possibility of escaping their mother's fate or for creating another type of life," and this volume includes writing by both Briski and the film's co-director, as well as stills from the documentary. About the Author

Zana Briski studied documentary photography at the International Center of Photography, New York. In 1995 Briski made her first trip to India, producing a story on female infanticide, and returned in 1997 to begin a project on the prostitutes of Calcutta's red-light district. She has received numerous fellowships, including an Alicia Patterson Foundation Fellowship and a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, and awards, including the first prize at the World Press Photo contest. She has conducted a series of photographic workshops with children of prostitutes in Calcutta since 2000. The children's photographs were auctioned at Sotheby's in New York in 2001 and presented in Amnesty International's 2003 calendar. In 2002 Briski and codirector Ross Kauffman received grants from the Sundance Institute, the Jerome Foundation, and the New York State Council on the Arts for their documentary film on the children of Calcutta's prostitutes, Born Into Brothels. Briski is the found of Kids with Cameras, a nonprofit organization formed to empower marginalized children worldwide through learning the art of photography. She lives in New York. Kids with Cameras is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering children through photography. The organization changes children's lives by teaching them the art and skills of photography on an individual basis, and provides support for their general education.

Beautiful book. Watched the documentary and then bought 8 of these books as gifts for my socially conscious friends.

Born into Brothels shows what can happen when children in desperate circumstances are given the opportunity to talk about their lives by making pictures. The pictures that the young people make provide evidence that a camera in the hands of a child can be an empowering device that provide the voice that they might otherwise not have. A powerful testament to the power of photographs and the power of pictures.

A stunning 'coffee table' type book with very serious content. This book makes a solid 'companion' piece to the documentary Born into Brothels. I will use both for a college course on gender. I would suggest viewing the documentary first, but I believe this book will also stand on its own.

If you have seen the movie, you'll love seeing the images in print.If you haven't seen the movie, rent it or buy it and you'll get the whole incredible story of these kids.

An interesting book, interesting idea....if you have something to do with India, or brothels, this might be worth looking into.

I bought this because I wanted to preserve my impressions after viewing the DVD. The DVD was exceptional as is the story of these children and how quick they were to pick up a camera and be able to do something with it. I'm still working on that. This is a nice companion to the DVD but if I had it to do over again I would probably pass.

Their own strands of thought were largely theoretical; however, after seeing BORN INTO BROTHELS last Friday evening and immediately buying the companion book, this Monday I was able to present some concrete images to my students of the horrors of slum-living and prostitution in Calcutta. The photos here are beautiful, heart-wrenching, intelligent, savvy, and fraught with layers of meaning. It is clear that the lives of these Calcutta youngsters are a far cry from the lives of suburban Americans. One of the functions of literature is the engendering of empathy for those whose experiences are far different from our own. While Shaw's play is insightful, these images from India had an immediate, powerful effect on kids raised more on television and video than on the written word. Ms. Briski is to be commended for her compassionate work and for trying to raise public awareness about the plight of millions of young people across the planet. One can only wish that even more could be done to ease the horrors of the lives of these impoverished youngsters and their families.

Not what I was expecting, this is a VERY thin, almost pamphlet-like, book that was obviously printed from a ebook. There are several grammar mistakes and there are URL links in the back. The content of this book is somewhat helpful if you are planning a reoccurring event (like a nature walk or something like that) but not even the slightest bit helpful of you are planning a wedding or trade show type of event.

I was tasked with planning a large event for a company in which I was recently hired. This seemed rather daunting and I knew that I'd have to do some research. I didn't have a lot of time to spend or a lot of money. This book was perfect because it was the right size and the right price and gave me all of the information that I needed...plus some that I didn't know that I needed!

I didn't know anything about event planning, let alone marketing, but I do now. I had to organize an event for 300 people and I basically just followed these steps. It's really straightforward. I've read some other of Alex's books and they're all really strong. Really recommend this one, whether you're a professional or an amateur like me.

Here is what is cool about this book. Alex uses himself as a case study and clearly points out what works and what doesn't and WHY! He talks about ways to generate revenue from your events, how to brand yourself/event and becoming an authority. A must read if you are or are planning on doing events.

I'm in the Wedding industry and looking to move into planning weddings. After reading his book on building a business plan, I didn't hesitate to buy more of his books. This one goes through many of the things that I had no idea about, ie: SEO, branding, etc. Really simple explanations!

This book is not exactly what am looking for but is not terrible at all for those doing venue party and charging attendees. Is ok I got this book might have use for it in future but at the moment is not for me as a begginer , am looking to know the meaning of event planning and types of event 1st and area of focus. If you choose to do speacial event and want to know how to market your event this is for you...

If you ever wanted to create an event, for a conference, for speakers, for business and have no experience this is a great first book! Planning an event is a huge undertaking and a logistical problem. Determining your venue, whether to price your event, how many people you need to plan your event, can you charge a fee for your event and how ill you market the event you plan are all discussed in this book.

I do marketing for a SaaS company, and we have just started doing some promotional events. I've read some of Alex's other marketing books, and have had great success implementing things like his marketing templates, so thought I'd see if he had something for event planning, and sure enough he does! Love this book. This has really helped me successfully plan, manage, and market two events now and the second went better than the first. Highly recommend this book.

I have all of the older Evan-Moor continent unit books, and frankly, I like them more than these new ones. There are many more "core focused" activities in this book, but the pages are filled with text. There are fewer creative projects as well. At $20, these books are much more expensive as well. The pro's for this book are: it is much larger than the older copies, with many more activities to choose from. I am using selections to supplement a unit study we are doing, and I have plenty of activities available to drive home any number of geographical topics. That said, I do have a copy of the old Africa book, and most of the activities I am planning are coming from it.

Anyone saying otherwise in their reviews are being extremely disingenuous. I have been asked for a ‘fair and unbiased’ review of the books I’ve purchased. If they deserve less than 5, then that’s what I will give. I would have done this for free. As a practicing musician that plays guitar, any advantage I can gain in my continuing education, including a free PDF is a win/win if you ask me. Besides according to Amazons own conditions and guidelines, no one is to bribe you in any, way, shape or form for any type of review. Disingenuous may be too kind of a word.Anyway, enough waffling. I had a inkling that chords, lay within the minor pentatonic, but never tried to suss it out myself.Sure enough. Right in the middle of all five of the pentatonic shapes are minor7 chords they have been playing for generations.Within the first pages. Major Pentatonic, Blues and Mixolydian scales are also studied. You learn to ‘hang’ licks off of these shapes. Easily transposed to other keys. The reason for this is, within a four or five fret span lay five or six other pentatonic shapes. They all overlap kids. This right here is worth the price of admission.The 100 licks are icing on the cake. A little theory, a little working knowledge of fretboard mechanics. If you’re ready to take a step from seasoned beginner to intermediate guitarist,here’s your next step. Practice, discipline and focus will get you there. These books are the Hal Leonard ‘how-to’ books of the 21st Century.

Just started with this book and I find the licks offered both comprehensive and provide an excellent foundation for further exploration. Learning the CAGED system and so the chords underlying the five minor pentatonic shapes is, for me, extremely helpful in learning the harmonic theory behind these classic blues scales. The audio is also very helpful as learning by ear as well as the written phrases/licks reinforces the right way to play all that is presented in the book. I'm a beginning avocational player and I do have one suggestion which concerns the musical notation used for the guitar music used in the book. Either provide a legend or a link to a legend which would clarify just how to play some of the bends, hammer-ons, pull-offs, slurs, slides. etc. that are used in the various licks. The audio in some cases is clear enough to hear how to play a given passage. Still, a written legend would be especially helpful for someone like me with a less than advanced knowledge of and ability in reading music.

When you have read as many reviews as I have , they get redundant, but I am going to give this a try.I am 66 years old and just started a year ago to learn this wonderful instrument.You can spend countless hours (as I have ) searching the internet for " AH HAA " moments.This E-Book abounds with them.The price, the content, the instructor, the audio training tracks available, free content at the authors web-site makes the investment in this book one of the best values available on the internet.I also need to let the reader know that If you have questions or need any help at all, just e-mail the author and you WILL receivea quick response.If you want to learn the fret board and how it applies to the blues... buy this book !!Thank you Mr. AlexanderGary

This is one of several books I've bought from the Fundamental Changes series. Like all the others, this is well-written, and very easy to follow. I'm only a beginner-to-intermediate player, but this book made it easy to pick up the CAGED system and immediately apply it to the licks taught in the book. The audio clips let you know if you're doing it right. I highly recommend this book.

What is impressing me about this book and its accompanying books by Joseph & co is the attention to cohesion of the "brand" he is fostering.The lessons are easy to understand, the follow up on purchase is great and the additional information/links to more learning and videos is inspiring!I love studying the CAGED system, it's completely helped me to see the guitar fretboard in a much clearer way! This book is a perfect addition to my efforts to learn more.My only critique is I wish some of the graphics/illustrations within the teachings were a little cleaner (that could be the part time graphic designer in me talking)Overall, this is a great buy!!!!
